Fog Generator

Description

Electric Fog is an interactive installation presented at the Gray Area Festival, an annual event exploring the intersection of art, technology, and design. The piece visualizes the speed and flow of technology as electric currents, drawing inspiration from circuit patterns and San Francisco’s signature fog.

Using a fog generator as a motion tool driven by real-time weather data, Electric Fog transforms digital information into a dynamic, interactive environment. The installation responds to user input, with data spreading outward along a single path. Users can control the movement’s speed by typing on a keyboard or making hand gestures near a sensor. As a hand moves closer, the motion accelerates, generating shifting, fog-like patterns that blur and intensify. This interaction highlights how human presence directly influences the digital landscape, making data feel fluid and responsive. By simulating the way fog distorts visibility, Electric Fog turns abstract technological processes into an immersive sensory experience.
